If you've ever taken a moment to see the magnificence of one of the worlds most exquisite beasts, if you have ever had the chance to feel the wind through your hair... you might just be as impressed as me.

The Mare

Digital Painting of a Paint Mare

In an era of ever changing media in which to create art and express one's passion I have really fallen in love with digital painting.

"The Mare" was completely painted using a Wacom tablet and pen. Horses are one of the most beautiful creatures I have ever seen. Even though this is all in the eye of the beholder I am so drawn to them.I had the gift of owning a couple in my teenage years and grew up with them as my mother had horses when I was a small child. I used to help in a stable where we took in horses from auction, rehabilitated and worked with them and in the end found them new homes. This was one of the best experiences of my life! It is forever ingrained in my heart.

Many art critics do not take digital painting as a true form of art, however if they realized the details involved would truly understand that it is still fine art but a little more refined. There is no need for paints, pencil sharpeners, lead, ink or any thing like that. However there is the need of how to shape your brush or pen tip, create certain color codes, how your brush will blend as well as adjust the opacity and hardness of your strokes as you paint. No different then the techniques used to paint when I work in the traditional sense. I can't say that I like one more than the other, I just enjoy being able to experiment across many mediums to create the art my heart wishes to create.
